On our drive to Colorado Springs on our Spring Break Trip, the rental van got a flat tire! God provided a rest area the moment it happened, which was a HUGE blessing, because the rental van was not equipped with the tools the guys needed to change the tire! We were only about 30 miles away from our destination, which was also a blessing because we had to go slowly on the little spare tire! I've been gone the past week on our spring break trip, without internet. More photos to come! This is _____. Yep, I wish I had asked for his name! I was walking back to my car after being on campus, and this homeless man approached me and asked for spare change. After I told him I didn't have any, he enthusiastically said, "Well God Bless you! Have a great spring break!" After I kindly said thank you, he looked down at my camera (I was holding it around my neck, looking for photo opp's!) and his face lit up as he said, "Could I get my picture taken by a beautiful young lady?" Ok! So I did! And I love this image. It captures a side of Albuquerque I don't naturally photograph. The homeless population here is huge, and my heart often breaks for them as they sit by the side of the road, and I drive past. God has given me a new compassion for the homeless, and I wish there were a way I could truly help them, more than just sparing a little change. Seeing them always reminds me of the passage in Matt 9:36 that says, "When he (Jesus) saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." A sticky mess! I made rice crispy treats for the drive to Colorado Springs, and it reminded me of home. In high school, I made this treat very often, so making it here brought me back to the "good-ole-days"! This is where I sit for a couple hours each day getting work done on my computer. If you remember the picture of the blue garage, that's what is straight out of my window! Sometimes, the lady in that house will come out to get her mail and we wave at each other! =) Oh, and this view of my laptop is Adobe Lightroom, where I was working on editing Nathan and Jalene's engagement photos. On Monday it rained. All day. For the first time since Decemember 26th. Amazing! I have never loved rain so much! And then look at how God ended the day for us! This photo was taken from our front yard (which is very odd because I think it looks like this was taken from some place out in the country!), and it was so beautiful because everything was yellow-ish! You can kind of see in the photo that it was a double rainbow, even! What a great reminder of God's faithfulness! Jalene and Nathan are engaged!!! We spent the afternoon together taking their engagement photos! They are such a fun, unique, full-of-life-and-personality couple! Congratulations to them! Their big day is on July 25th, and I have the honor of photographing their wedding! Happy Birthday, Kim!! We took Kim out to Garduno's for her birthday dinner! I learned that Kim really does not like being sung happy birthday, especially with a big sombrero on her head!! |
365 days of Photos!
This is a unique type of blog. I read somewhere about the idea of taking a photo a day - a photo of something I did, someone I saw, food I ate, places I went, ect., and I thought it would be a neat way to document this year as I continue in another semester of EDGE Corps, and go on a mission trip this summer! I hope you enjoy the journey! Archives
