About me...

Hello! I am Allison Roen, a recent graduate of Northwestern College in Saint Paul, MN. College was quite the journey for me - I spent my first semester at Southwest Baptist University, my next year at Simpson College, and then finished at Northwestern. Talk about a wide range of experiences! Last January, I had decided to pursue my dream of photography after I graduated. However, after I made this decision, I had this unsettledness inside me that wouldn't go away. So I began to pray. Just as I began asking God to guide me in this decision, a speaker came to Northwestern and asked, "Whose dreams are you chasing? Are you chasing after your own dreams, or the dreams God has for your life?" Whoa. God always seems to bring people into my life to ask me the tough questions that I need to hear!  God continued to put EDGE Corps on my heart, so I went to the U of MN Navs to feel out if EDGE was something that might be for me. As I got to know the students and leaders there, it was confirmed to me that EDGE Corps is God's dream for me at this point in my life. So this next year I get the sweet privilege of investing in the lives of students at UNM, and share the gospel with those who don't know Jesus!  What could be more exciting, rewarding, and radically life changing?!

Some random tid-bits about me:

I am an artist. A photographer, painter, scrapbooker, designer, singer.  One thing I have trouble living without is peanut butter. There's not much that compares to the gooey goodness of melted chocolate and peanut butter mixed together!  I have filled 28 journals. I got to run a half marathon with my dad. I've been chased by cows. I love to people watch in airports. I have way too many books. I love early morning runs and sleeping with the windows open.  I can't get myself to like coffee, but I love coffee shops. I think peppers are beautiful. I have a hard time staying up late. I love to cook, but I don't often stick to recipes. Most of all, I have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ. I can do nothing without Him, and it is He who gives me purpose, identity, hope and passion.
