Look what was in our front yard the other day! Two little road runners! Now, this is a sight you don't see in Iowa! How fun! I wish I could make these photos bigger so you can see these little fellas better...but I can't figure out how!

Bugs, bugs, bugs! I will deeply miss this home the four of us EDGErs are living in now...but this is one thing I will NOT miss! Cockroaches! We find them all over our carpet in the living room...thankfully they are always dead! Eeewww! Saturday morning I got to catch up with a close friend from college, and since it was so nice outside I decided to take a walk while we talked. I got to the end of our street, and realized our neighbors were having a moving away garage sale. I stopped by and found some treasures!! I bought these 8 beautiful frames plus a SUPER fun game called Wise and Otherwise, all for $13! What a steal of a deal! Even though I'll be moving out of this house in just a few short weeks, I thought I might as well rearrange a little to put some of them up! The picture below is of the mini-fireplace in the front room of our house, where my computer desk is - with my new frames! I LOVE the big one with the green apples - they make me feel so fresh and healthy! Games! I had the women in my Bible study over for a "sleepover" on Friday night, and had dinner together, played games, ate ice cream sundaes, and watched a movie together! They are such a fun group! As the girls said, though, it was the "most pathetic sleepover ever" because everyone came and left at various times...and by the time our movie was over, there were only 2 girls left here, so they decided to not even spend the night! I will really miss each of those students when I leave in May! Juntos is a Navigator ministry in Albuquerque that reaches out to urban youth. They are hosting their own summer training program here in the city this summer, and they held a silent auction to raise money for it. I was honored to be asked if they could auction off a couple family portrait sessoins! I printed some photos as examples of my work, and some business cards, and both portrait sessions were sold by Albuquerque Nav staff! Within the next month, you'll see photos posted from their family sessions! I also donated a printed piece of artwork - the "Glory" design in the back, to be auctioned off! I heard that the auction was very successful, and they raised a good amount of money to go toward their summer program. A package was waiting on our porch when I arrived back to Albuquerque. I had ordered a book that I created as a wedding guestbook with the photos from Jalene and Nathan's engagement session. The printing and photos look really great, but it's a pretty flimsy book, so I was disappointed! Good to cross off that company, as I know I won't be using them again! When I flew back to Albuquerque after Easter, I flew Continental from Des Moines to Houston to ABQ...and they served a huge snack! Usually when I fly, they just offer water, or if I'm really lucky, they give out little bags of pretzels (which I don't even like!). Check out all this food Continental provides! Crazy! Kim got a house-sitting job for a couple in Albuquerque, and since it was beautiful mansion, I joined her for a couple nights! I am amazed that anyone lives this extravagantly! The outside photo below shows their pool, and their barn, which is much larger than most homes!! Last Friday, we had our April Friday Night Bites at our house. These Friday night dinners have become quite the event! We had somewhere between 30-40 students, and we had a southern theme this month. We served pulled BBQ pork and chicken, salad, corn bread, and many different desserts. I wish you could experience what dinner is like in such a full house!! After the dinner, we had a talent show, organized by a couple students. It was a hit! I was surprised by how many students shared a talent with us, some being silly and funny, and others being true musical talents! It was a very successful evening! Oh, and the 2nd picture shows the diversity of our group: worship outside...while Turbo Jam Inside (at 11:30pm, nonetheless!!) |
365 days of Photos!
This is a unique type of blog. I read somewhere about the idea of taking a photo a day - a photo of something I did, someone I saw, food I ate, places I went, ect., and I thought it would be a neat way to document this year as I continue in another semester of EDGE Corps, and go on a mission trip this summer! I hope you enjoy the journey! Archives
